This study has as objective to refl ect on the humanization of the process of work in the health area, having as a focus the nursing workers, considering that the National Politics of Humanization encourages the autonomy and the protagonism of the subjects who are health producers. The Ministry of Health documents were used as the main reference that regulates such Policies, being articulated to some primary sources of scientifi c inquiry concerning the subject. Some alternatives are pointed with respect to the humanization of the practice centered in the worker, admitting the commitment with the ambience and improvement of the work conditions. To establish solidarity and participatory bonds and to transform the management models, having as focus the democratization of the work relations and the valuation of the health professionals are attitudes that can add value to the human being.

Objetive: The study is an experience report, with the objective of reporting differences in the humanization present in nursing care between a Brazilian city and two cities of the United States of America, highlighting the potentialities and fragility of care provided in both cities frequented by students of Patos Integrated College - FIP. Method: The study was based on the exchange linked to the Bounce project, funded by the US government, which took place between May 21 and June 20, 2015, and was attended by 8 (eight) FIP scholars from Paraíba, Brazil. Through the study it was possible to perform a comparative analysis between the Brazilian hospital reality, seen in the FIP curriculum internship field, through the Deputy Janduhy Carneiro Regional Hospital, located in the municipality of Patos - Paraíba, Brazil, and the North American, evidenced by the visit to the hospitals of Hudson and New Paltz. Results: It was observed that the difference in care is in the humanization present in the Brazilian nursing care process. It is noteworthy the great work done by these professionals, who are not only concerned with technical-scientific efficiency, but with humanized assistance, based on ethical, moral, affection and for mutual respect precepts. Comparing the assistance provided in the two realities, we observed in our country a predominantly humanistic, rather than mechanical, assistance. Therefore, it is concluded that it is fundamental to seek tools that improve our Health System, consequently, providing benefits both for professionals, as well as for the users assisted. The centennial of the Hague Convention (No. II; No. IV in the 1907 version) on the Laws and Customs of War on Land and the fiftieth anniversary of the four Geneva Conventions for the Protection of Victims of War of August 12, 1949, present an opportunity to reflect on the direction in which the law of war, or international humanitarian law, has been evolving. This essay focuses on the humanization of that law, a process driven to a large extent by human rights and the principles of humanity. As the subject is vast, major issues must inevitably be left out of my discussion, including the impact of the prohibitions on unnecessary suffering and indiscriminate warfare on the regulation of weapons, the proscription of antipersonnel land mines and blinding laser weapons, and the progression of international humanitarian law from largely protecting noncombatants to protecting combatants as well.

Chapter one states the central quest of this thesis: to develop a Dalit theology on the basis of the concepts salvation and humanization of M.M. Thomas. Chapter two elucidates the socio- political and religious milieu which influenced his theology. Thomas' theology has evolved and developed in revolutionary contexts which demanded political freedom, social equality and religious identity. Chapter three explores the life and work of Thomas and demonstrates his fivefold search for humanization. Thomas' ecumenical and international exposures shaped his theology as he moved from an evangelical position to an ecumenical stance and from an ecumenical position to liberational and pluralistic stance. Chapter four is an exploration and interpretation of Thomas' theology of salvation and humanization. He defines salvation as 'the spiritual inwardness of humanization' and humanization as 'the outwardness of salvation.' He interprets salvation as spiritual, ultimate and eschatological while humanization as physical, penultimate and historical; yet in Thomas' view they are two sides of the same coin. Though there are obstacles Thomas finds hope in Christ. Thomas suggests secularism, inter-religious dialogue, and conscientization as means towards humanization. The process of humanization is a radical shift from individual to collective salvation, sacralization to secularization and Church-centred religious fellowship to a Christ-centred secular fellowship. The goal is to restore the lost personhood and peoplehood so that they become subject of their own history. Chapter five is an appraisal of Thomas' theology of humanization from a liberational, tribal, feminist and Dalit perspective. Though Thomas advocates the humanization of tribals and women as well Dalits, the tribal and feminist theologians have not actively engaged with Thomas' theology. But Dalit theologians like A.P. Nirmal and M. Azariah have criticized and rejected his contribution on methodological grounds as well as his use of brahminical tradition. ...

This paper argues that the question of the human is a major concern in Judith Butler's philosophy. I believe that although this concern is more visible in her relatively recent works on ethics and politics, in her earlier works it is always in the background. I read Butler as a deep thinker on the nature of the human, and argue that her thoughts on ethics and politics should be read as a (non-utopic) yearing for a human condition where a collectively inhabitable world becomes possible.
